Most people joining Discover Scuba Diving are complete beginners and many have never even worn scuba equipment before.
Our experienced instructors will guide you step by step, explain everything clearly, and stay by your side throughout the experience. There’s no pressure, no rushing, and no expectation that you already know anything.
We’re here to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited to experience something completely new.
What to Expect
Learn the basics — Your instructor will introduce the essential scuba equipment, explain how it works, and help you feel comfortable using it.
Practice simple skills — You'll learn beginner-friendly scuba skills like equalizing, cleaning your mask, and breathing underwater calmly.
Your first real dive — Once you're feeling confident, it's time to head underwater with your instructor by your side and experience scuba diving for real.

We run our Discover Scuba Diving experiences in Casa Cenote - a calm, crystal-clear cenote that offers an ideal environment for beginners.
With easy shore entry, excellent visibility and no waves or boat entry, it's a relaxed place to learn the basics and enjoy your first underwater experience at a comfortable pace.
You'll still get the excitement of breathing underwater and seeing marine life - just in an environment designed to help first-time divers feel comfortable.

No experience is required. Discover Scuba Diving is designed for complete beginners and is conducted under the close supervision of a PADI instructor.

No. Discover Scuba Diving is an introductory experience that lets you try scuba diving for the first time. If you enjoy it, you can continue with the PADI Open Water Diver course.

Participants usually dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet) under instructor supervision.

Yes. If you enjoy your Discover Scuba experience, some of the skills and experience can count toward the PADI Open Water Diver course, making it a great first step if you decide you’d like to become a certified diver.

For safety reasons, Discover Scuba Diving experiences are only available in beginner-friendly environments like Casa Cenote.
Cenotes such as Dos Ojos are overhead environments and require divers to hold an appropriate scuba diving certification.
The good news is that once certified through the PADI Open Water Diver course, you'll be able to start exploring many of Tulum's incredible cenote dives.
