There are some great places for snorkeling around Tulum, including the reef just offshore and nearby freshwater cenotes. Each environment offers a different experience, from coral and tropical fish in the sea to crystal-clear water and rock formations in cenotes.
No experience is required. Snorkeling is easy to learn and your guide will give a short briefing before you enter the water.
Cenotes are freshwater sinkholes with incredibly clear water and unique rock formations. Snorkeling in a cenote is very calm and different from the ocean, with excellent visibility and beautiful light effects.
Some cenotes restrict the use of fins to help protect the delicate rock formations and environment. We can advise what equipment is appropriate for each location.
Yes, snorkeling is suitable for children who are comfortable in the water. We have smaller masks and snorkels available.
Basic swimming ability helps, but flotation vests are available and out guides stay close throughout the snorkel
