ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is your next step after Open Water certification, designed to take you deeper into the world of scuba diving and boost your confidence with new skills. Through this program, you’ll gain hands-on experience and advanced training, enabling you to explore more challenging dive sites safely.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
In the PADI Advanced Open Water course, you’ll complete five "Adventure Dives", each focusing on a unique area of dive expertise:
Deep Diving (mandatory)
Learn the techniques and safety considerations for diving deeper, usually up to 30 meters/100 feet, expanding your range and confidence.
Underwater Navigation (mandatory)
Refine your compass navigation skills and gain confidence using natural references to find your way underwater.
Additional Adventure Dives
The remaining three dives are your choice. Customise your training with specialty dives - like Night Diving or Underwater Photography - that develop skills suited to your interests.
PREREQUISITES
For the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, you’ll need:
Open Water Diver Certification
You must hold a PADI Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent certification from another recognized training organization. This ensures you have the foundational skills and experience needed for advanced diving.
Minimum Age
You must be at least 12 years old to participate.
Good Physical Health
Diving is an active sport, so you’ll need to be in reasonably good health. You’ll complete a medical questionnaire to ensure diving is safe for you. In some cases, a doctor’s approval may be required.
