WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Dive Theory
Learn the science of scuba diving, from pressure and buoyancy to safety protocols and dive planning. You’ll complete knowledge sessions, either online or in the classroom, at your own pace.
Confined Water Dives
In a controlled environment (like a pool or shallow water), you’ll master key skills, including equipment setup, underwater communication, and buoyancy control. These sessions are designed to build your confidence and comfort.
Open Water Dives
Once you’re comfortable, you’ll head out for real dives in the ocean, where you’ll apply your skills and experience the magic of diving in open water. Your instructor will guide you every step of the way.
PREREQUISITES
The PADI Open Water Diver course is accessible to almost anyone with a passion for the ocean. Here’s what you’ll need:
Minimum Age
You must be at least 10 years old to participate.
Good Physical Health
Diving is an active sport, so you’ll need to be in reasonably good health. You’ll complete a medical questionnaire to ensure diving is safe for you. In some cases, a doctor’s approval may be required.
Comfortable in Water
You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in water. You’ll need to demonstrate basic swimming ability, including floating and swimming a short distance.
